About Nutri-tacticS

Anna is a State Registered Dietitian and an Accredited Sports Dietitian and Nutritionist. She graduated from Surrey University following a 4 year Nutrition and Dietetics degree. She then continued to do postgraduate studies in Sports Dietetics based at Loughborough University. She is also a specialist Paediatric Dietitian and therefore splits her time between her clinical and sports workload.

Anna has a sound knowledge of both the nutritional and physical requirements of elite level sport and has a great depth of experience of working at grass roots level with the practical application of complex nutritional data. an example of the sports that Anna has worked with includes:

  • RUGBY - Northampton Saints Rugby Club Elite Academy; Kettering and Diss Rugby Club. England Women's Rugby Academy
  • HOCKEY -  Development squad for England Sport, Suffolk Sport, Active Norfolk, Harleston Magpies
  • AMATUER SWIMMING
  • PARALYMPIC SPORT - Great Britain Winter team Paralympic residential camp at Sheffield EIS, Great Britain Womens Wheelchair Basketball team with training camps based at Stoke Mandeville and travelling to European competitions, Great Britain Paralympic training camp – CP and visually impaired football teams
  • INTERNATIONAL JUDO
  • AMATUER AND PROFESSIONAL BOXING
  • FOOTBALL
  • TENNIS
  • GYMNASTICS
  • IRON MAN CHALLENGES
  • ULTRA ENDURANCE ATHLETES
  • ATLANTIC AND OPEN WATER SAILING, ROWING AND KAYAKING

The work completed with the above sports include 1:1 individual nutrition counselling, group education sessions; the monitoring of anthropometric measurements including body fat percentage. Each athlete is given an individualised nutrition regime, with targeted nutritional intakes depending on their body weight, training programme and field position / sport. Key topics for attention include appropriate hydration strategies and providing practical solutions to field related problems. The players attend presentations on the role of nutrients for promoting fitness, performance and the currently available supplements and ergogenic aids. As a sports Dietitian I feel it is imperative that athletes are fully educated regarding appropriate practical application of nutrition for their sport to include general day to day nutrition, pre, during and post training & competition nutrition and nutrition for recovery and improved athletic performance. A close working relationship with catering teams and other available medical staff is vital to provide a holistic and well prepared approach to team nutrition. Working with elite teams also provides the challenges of keeping up to date with doping policies and procedures and also the use of the UK Sport and WADA prohibited and permitted drugs database

As a Paediatric Dietitian Anna has a wealth of experience with the support of both healthy and sick children in both an acute hospital and community environment. She has a passion for working with overweight and obese children and this has lead to the development of her weight management programmes for teenagers (see childrens weight management section). Anna practices evidence based practice and is supported in her clinical work by a multisdisciplinary team of  Consultant Endrinologists, Specialsit nurses and Physiotherapists. Her extremely empathetic and friendly personality enables her to impart complex information to patients and clients in a practical and workable way.
